Online professional development in Foundations of Risk at the University of Strathclyde.

A fully-tutored online graduate-level course running over two calendar months.

Next Course: 8 October to 4 December 2009

Aimed at: Analysts, policy specialists, managers from the public and private sectors and graduate students who seek professional theoretical grounding and practical training in the study of risk.

The Course: This course is interdisciplinary. It describes and analyzes the tools, techniques and concepts that are used in statistics, psychology and sociology/anthropology to examine and manage risk. The course was developed jointly by specialists from each of these disciplines. In a collaborative, on-line context, we aim to help students examine the subject of risk in the round, and in so doing, develop a more sophisticated understanding of the concept itself as well as the strengths and limitations of the tools and techniques we often deploy to deal with it.
